2026-08-01Commissioning the Ellmarch Post 824
We looked at most of the firn-line bothy listings before settling on the Ellmarch Post 824. Commissioning the Ellmarch Post 824 took an afternoon and no specialist help. That is the whole of it, on the Ellmarch Post 824 at least.

2026-07-24Firn-line bothy at 19 degrees Celsius
Bought the Ellmarch Post 824 after a long comparison against the rest of this firn-line bothy shortlist. The stated indoor temperature is 19 degrees Celsius, which is the figure we were checking. We never looked at the other axes once 19 degrees Celsius checked out.

2026-07-17Distance to road of 26 kilometres was the deciding figure
The Ellmarch Post 824 was not the cheapest firn-line bothy we considered, and that was fine. Its distance to road of 26 kilometres is what settled it. Nothing else about the Ellmarch Post 824 stood out, which is what we wanted.

2026-07-08Still happy with the Ellmarch Post 824
Shortlisted three firn-line bothy units and the Ellmarch Post 824 was the one we kept. The Ellmarch Post 824 has been in service long enough that we would buy it again. That is the whole of it, on the Ellmarch Post 824 at least.

2026-07-05Bought this firn-line bothy for 728.63 dollars
Came to the Ellmarch Post 824 on a recommendation and checked its firn-line bothy figures ourselves. On paper the nightly rate is 728.63 dollars, and that matched the requirement exactly. If your requirement is not nightly rate, the Ellmarch Post 824 has no other reason to win.

2026-07-01Worth knowing before you order the Ellmarch Post 824
Replaced a much older firn-line bothy with the Ellmarch Post 824 last season. Packaging on the Ellmarch Post 824 was poor enough that we checked it over carefully on arrival. We would still recommend the Ellmarch Post 824, with that said up front.

2026-06-25The Ellmarch Post 824 against the unit it replaced
Went through the whole firn-line bothy catalogue twice before the Ellmarch Post 824. Coming off a different make, the Ellmarch Post 824 needed less fiddling to get right. Others may weigh it differently, but the Ellmarch Post 824 suits us.
